Snow Day

It really did snow. All day! It first started to fall around 9am, but it was still too warm to stick to the ground. I had been looking at weather.com and knew that there was a lot more to come. A little after the first round, our friend Aubree came to say goodbye. She had driven down from Virginia Beach on Saturday and was heading back. I told her she couldn't leave because it would be too dangerous to drive in. She said that the snow had stopped and it didn't even stick to the ground. I asked her if she had looked at the weather, and she said she had, and it didn't look bad. She obviously hadn't looked because this is what the radar looked like... (I don't know why the map didn't save. The red circle is where we live and the red arrow is the direction the snow was moving.)
I got her on the computer and she was pretty shocked. She ended up staying after all, which is really good because it got really bad. It snowed from about 9am to 9pm, with a couple of breaks. Of course, it started off really weak...
Once it got a little thicker, I took the fam outside for pictures.
I had opened all the blinds in our house, and it was incredible to walk by them all day and see this sight...
Later in the evening, everyone came over to our house to make a snowman...
As always, everyone wanted a picture with Emily...
We were outside for a good 20-30 minutes. Roxy had so much fun finally getting to play. First she had to walk all over our yard and inspect things out. Once she had decided that the snow wasn't going to hurt her, she started running all around.
Our lovely snowman...
It is finally starting to melt a little (at 11am), but we awoke to it still looking pristine this morning. It was such a fun experience, but I don't think I could live like this every winter. Roxy says otherwise, though.

We're Back!!!

We made it home safely, and everyone is doing great (including Roxy)!

I have had some computer problems with our laptop, so I had to pull out my big desktop that was in the pantry and hook it up to the internet. It took a while, but we are finally back online, and I promise the blog posts will resume. We have so many pictures and videos to share, but I must get to bed now. Tomorrow is a big day for us... SNOW! Or so the weatherman says. School and work up at the base is already cancelled. The night before! Can you believe that? It is suppose to snow for 2 days and it is suppose to be "accumulated snow". I only wish Daniel was here, because has been dying to see Roxy in the snow. Maybe I can get him on the webcam tomorrow and we can take it outside with us. Ooooh... that is a good idea!

Talk to you all soon!

Our first trip to the ER

Emily has been sick for the past couple of days. Really sick. She is congested and has a hacky cough, which makes her really cranky. After an evening of non-stop crying, Roxy decided she had had it, and od-ed on 14 pain pills.

Dead serious.

We made a trip to the ER, and the little one got her tummy pumped.

When Daniel and I first started dating, he told me that he would never, EVER spend any money on a pet. I cried. A lot. And I wanted to start a fight. Recently he told me to spare no expense when it came to Roxy. Apparently she doesn't qualify as a "pet" anymore.

At least the doggie ER isn't as much as the human ER.

Addendum

I have felt quite at ease this new year, not having to worry about my list of resolutions, since we rang in the new year last November. I always put great stress on myself to make the most perfect list, yet never stick to any of it. I refused to put another list up here, but after reading some great blogs this week, I have a couple of more things I want to add.

1. Be a craftier mom

2. Be a craftier wife

3. Be a craftier woman...

Ingenious

Attach to ears as earrings...
OR wear as a headband.

Hand-me-downs

Right after we found out we were having a little girl, my mom came to visit, bringing with her some of my old baby clothes. She had apparently kept a lot of stuff for whenever I had children, as if putting your kids in 25 year old clothes is the norm. I kindly turned down the 5 outfits she offered. Old stains from baby spit up is just not a good look on Emily. She said she had some more stuff at home that I needed to go through to see if there was anything I wanted to keep. Today, I tackled the boxes. I am actually keeping a couple of things (like 5 outfits) that are classics and actually in good condition, but most of the stuff was pretty ridiculous.

Christmas break review

I'm back!
Sorry I haven't posted in FOREVER! This has been the busiest trip back to Texas. I can't believe all we have done in the past couple of weeks. We have probably seen, at least, 200 people. No joke. Sad thing is, I was hoping to see even more people, but there just isn't time. I think Emily will be glad to get back to North Carolina, have some alone time, and get back on a proper schedule. Unfortunately, we didn't take many pictures, but I will share what we have...
We spent Christmas Eve with the Wetzel Clan and Christmas day with my family in Beaumont.
This is only have of the group from Christmas Eve.

Emily got to spend a lot of time playing with her Kenny cousins.

We got to see Aunt Ali pregnant and Emily found the perfect place to sit.
Cousin Maddie is welcome to sit on Emily whenever she wants in the future.

Emily got a lot of wonderful Christmas presents.

Roxy found her long, lost, yellow alien squeaky toy.
We made lots of new friends. This is Isabel, who was born the day after Emily.
We got to meet cousin Caleb.
We also got to meet Audrey Rose. Her father, Austin, is one of our oldest family friends.
We also got to see the Coldewey family.
