Poor Daniel...

You have to feel bad for the guy -- he doesn't look like he is having any fun in New York.

I didn't know she could do that.

I will be sure to put her to sleep in onesies from now on.

Carseats are expensive...

The good thing about this is that she is so short, nobody can see in the car to pull us over.

I kid. I kid.

Travel wipes

How to keep your baby preoccupied on a 30 minute drive home from the grocery store...
Give her a package of 100 tavel wipes and assume she will enjoy playing with the crinkly package.
But later realize she was preoccupied by pulling all 100 wipes out ONE BY ONE.

Cinco de Mayo, revisited

Cinco de Mayo has to be one of my favorite holidays to celebrate. What other day can you prance around in a mexican dress and pretend you know Spanish? On Cinco de Mayo we celebrate Mexico's defeat over the French army, but I only know that because I just googled it. Really, it is just a reason for me to prance around in my mexican dress and pretend I know Spanish. I never really decorate for holidays, but Cinco de Mayo is celebrated with a completely different set of rules.

Senior year in college, I was brilliant enough to photograph an event we call "The Travelling Sombrero." I went around Northgate and got everyone I know to take a picture with the sombrero. It turned out to be a hit and even strangers were coming up asking to have their picture taken with the hat. I ended up with a total of 137 pictures of people wearing the sombrero from that night. (See what I meant by brilliant?) Here are few pictures to get you in the mood before your own fiesta this evening.

Broadway at the Beach

While in Myrtle Beach, we ventured out to eat only one day. It was just too difficult to do with such a large group. Plus, who wants to be pulled away from the beautiful beach? We decided to head to Broadway at the Beach for lunch on the last day after most of the group had turned into lobsters (it was the first sunbathing of the season, after all.) Broadway at the Beach is a heavy commercialized area with lots of restaurants, bars, shops, and entertainment. Although we were a little overstimulated with all the sights and sounds, it did provide for some good photo opportunities.
Everyone was enamored with the ginormous fish swimming around in the water.
So Uncle Derek bought some fish food so Emily could feed them, although most of the time was spent making sure Emily didn't feed herself.

Emily loves sweet potatoes, so she was thrilled to eat sweet potato fries for lunch.

And then, or course, Mommy had to take a billion pictures of Emily and Daddy.

I did manage to get in one picture, though.

Derek, Shaun, and Chris decided to take advantage of a carnival-style game. Turns out the animals went A LOT slower than we were all expecting.

So slow, in fact, that even Emily was begging for a faster speed.

And Emily and Daddy could not resist taking a picture in this...

Saturday mornings

We absolutely love Saturday mornings in this house. It doesn't get any better than big family breakfasts and sitting around drinking coffee together. Our little one has started to partake in Saturday morning events, as well.
Just give her an empty coffee cup and she is as happy as a clam.

And because I love bad pictures of Emily...

Myrtle Beach (the boring pictures)

We are a little sick in this house, so things are running slow around here, including my blogging. Emily and I caught whatever Rebecca Miller brought with her to Myrtle Beach last weekend. We traced the virus back to the Marine Corps, so that is where our blame lies.

The following are some boring pictures from Myrtle Beach. I say "boring" because the beach is where all the fun was had, and I refused to lug my huge camera out there. Rebecca got some good shots of us playing in the water, so I will get the pictures from her this weekend and post them for all to enjoy. In the meantime...

I still am having a difficult time accepting that she has grown up and is now eating big-girl food.
Of course, Roxy does not have a difficult time accepting this.
Emily also enjoys playing with Stanley -- sometimes.
Stanley was getting very interested in Emily's aquarium
And then got his head stuck in it.
Emily also spent a lot of time cleaning the tile floor for us. I had to deep clean all of her clothes when we got back.
How big is Emily? Soooo big!

And we got to spend a lot of time hanging out with Uncle Chris, Emily's godfather.
